51 EBCU meeting - Summary 51 EBCU meeting - Summary

Łódź, 16 04 2015. An interesting program, satisfied guests, large selection of beer and a charming city. Such was 51. EBCU meeting, which took place in Łódź. The meeting in Poland initiated the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Brotherhood of Beer and the 25th anniversary of the European Beer Consumers Union.

The meetings of the European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU) are held twice a year. Each of them is held in a different European city, by one of the 13 organizations affiliated to the association. This circumstance allows the beer consumers’ represenatives to know Europe from the beer side much better.

Even if the previous EBCU meeting took place in Poland in 2011 (Gdańsk), a year after that event the Brotherhood of Beer (Bractwo Piwne) asked already for the organization of the next meeting in 2015. The choice of the date due to the various anniversaries - 20-th anniversary of the Brotherhood of beer and the 25th anniversary of the European Beer Consumers Union - proved to be the right decision, leaving all delegates enjoy their stay between 9 and 12 April in the sunny city of Łódź.

EBCU inaugurates its academic profile

On Thursday, 9 April  EBCU delegates were welcomed by Bractwo Piwne at the Eclipse Inn pub for a beer tasting  and information delivery on the programme.

On Friday 10 April, for the first time in history, EBCU had its entrance on the academic stage. On the occasion of the Technical University 70th anniversary an academic debate around the topic "Diversity of beer. The role of technology, breweries and consumers." was organized. Then Mr. Pawel Dziedzic / Brewery Sulimar / presented the history of the brewery and how it changed the offer relative to the market and consumer expectations. After a short break, Mr. Henri Reuchlin, EBCU chairman, recalled the origins of the organization and explained its current goals and what might expect a beer consumer in the future.

In the afternoon, guests participated in the official opening of the regional breweries festival Piwowary, then visited the city, and in the evening, the time passed pleasantly at the Księży Mlyn microbrewery.

On Saturday morning, the official meeting took place at Bierhalle. An announcement was also made of the 25th anniversary event in Brussels on Tuesday 20 October 2015.

On Saturday afternoon delegates had the pleasure of visiting the Piwowary festival y. At the ceremony it was also highlighted the good cooperation over many years between  Bractwo Piwne and Regional Breweries Association and the Association of Beer Industry Employers - Polish Breweries.
